The Akwa Ibom State Government has cautioned individuals, groups, organisations and private entities against the unauthorised use of the State’s official logo, crest and other government insignia, warning that offenders will face prosecution.

In a press release dated June 29, 2026, and signed by the Commissioner for Information, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, the Government expressed concern over what it described as the increasing unauthorised use of its official symbols on event materials, advertisements, online publications, opinion pieces and other private content.

The Government stated that its official logo, crest and insignia must not be used for private publications, promotional materials or any other purpose without prior authorisation.

It warned that individuals, groups and organisations engaging in such practices should immediately desist, stressing that the administration would henceforth prosecute offenders for offences including false impersonation of government authorities, fraud, forgery and copyright infringement.

The State Government further advised members of the public to comply with the directive, adding that it would track, apprehend and prosecute anyone found to be in violation of the directive.

The statement reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to protecting the integrity of its official identity and ensuring that its symbols are used only with appropriate authorisation.
