Veteran Nollywood actors Segun Arinze and Jerry Amilo have dismissed renewed concerns over the health and mental state of their colleague, Hanks Anuku, following the circulation of a viral video showing him lying by the roadside in Abuja.
The video, which surfaced on social media on Saturday, showed Anuku lying on a road in the Wuse 2 area of the Federal Capital Territory while talking to himself and holding a disposable cup.
The footage sparked widespread concern among fans and social media users, with some speculating that the actor was battling health challenges or was under the influence of alcohol.
Reacting to the viral clip, Segun Arinze clarified that the footage was not recent.
“This is a very old video oo,” he wrote in the comment section of an Instagram post that shared the clip.
Jerry Amilo also urged the public to stop recirculating the video, warning against spreading misleading information.
“PLEASE THIS IS AN OLD VIDEO. STOP SPREADING EVIL NEWS AND WISHES,” he wrote.
The clarification comes amid renewed public concern over Anuku’s well-being.
The veteran actor had previously disclosed in November 2023 that he struggled with depression, revealing that his drinking habit was linked to the mental health challenges he experienced.
