Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has approved the immediate suspension of the sale of tickets, collection of levies, and all related charges imposed on inter-city transport operators by government agents and security operatives across the state.

The governor said the decision followed extensive consultations with the leadership of the Inter-City Drivers Association and was aimed at easing the burden on transport operators and commuters.

According to him, all relevant government agencies and security personnel have been directed to comply fully with the directive pending further notice.

Governor Otu also disclosed that his administration would, in the coming days, convene a stakeholders’ meeting to develop a sustainable, fair, and mutually beneficial framework for the transport sector.

He noted that the move forms part of efforts to create a more business-friendly environment, support livelihoods, and ensure that the dividends of governance are felt by residents of the state.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering economic growth and shared prosperity, expressing optimism that the reforms would strengthen the transport sector and improve the ease of doing business in Cross River State.
