Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has said President Bola Tinubu never promised to “perform magic” in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
Oshiomhole stated that the current wave of insecurity in the country did not begin under the present administration, insisting that the situation predates President Tinubu’s tenure.
Speaking during an interview on the Mic On Podcast, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain urged critics to fairly assess the government’s efforts in tackling insecurity.

He argued that it was unfair to dismiss ongoing security operations, noting that security personnel continue to risk their lives in various parts of the country.
According to him, President Tinubu, as Commander-in-Chief, has been making efforts within available capacity and should not be expected to achieve instant results in resolving long-standing security challenges.
Oshiomhole also referenced the sacrifices of security operatives, particularly in the North-East, saying many have died while defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity and protecting civilians from armed groups.
He cautioned against statements that, in his view, undermine the efforts of military and security personnel engaged in counter-insurgency operations.

Meanwhile, concerns over insecurity have continued to grow across the country in recent weeks.
Several incidents, including the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State and the kidnapping and subsequent death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar in Katsina State, have further intensified public anxiety over safety and security.
