Edo Queens FC recorded their first victory of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super Six playoff after a convincing 4-1 win over FC Robo Queens in Port Harcourt on Monday.

The Benin City-based side responded strongly after suffering an opening-day defeat to Nasarawa Amazons FC.

Edo Queens took control of the encounter early, with Chioma Moses scoring twice in the first half to give her side a comfortable lead.

The 2024 league champions extended their advantage after the break when Precious Oscar found the net in the 59th minute. Just four minutes later, Mary Mamudu added a fourth goal to seal an emphatic victory for the side coached by Moses Aduku.

FC Robo Queens managed a late consolation goal through Florence Godwin Freda in the 86th minute.

The defeat marked FC Robo Queens’ second consecutive loss of the playoff competition, having previously fallen 3-2 to Rivers Angels FC in their opening match.

Action in the NWFL Super Six playoff will continue on Wednesday as teams battle for the league title and continental qualification spots.
