Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North Central under Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD have successfully rescued two kidnap victims during a security operation in Kwara State.
According to a statement by the military, the rescue occurred on June 3, 2026, when troops deployed at Patrol Base Babasango embarked on an aggressive fighting patrol to Gidan Dogo Ekaa.

During the operation, the troops encountered two civilians who had reportedly escaped from the custody of their abductors and immediately secured them.
The rescued victims were identified as Mr Temitope Samuel, 42, and Mr Mohammed Sani, 40.
Military authorities said the victims were taken into protective custody and subsequently transferred to Patrol Base Babanla, where they are receiving medical attention, psychological support, and other necessary assistance.
Arrangements are also being made to reunite them with their families.
The Army described the operation as a demonstration of its commitment to protecting lives and combating criminal activities through sustained intelligence-driven operations.

The military commended the troops for their courage and professionalism and urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to enhance ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity across the country.
