Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with financial institutions to drive economic growth and development in the state.

The Governor gave the assurance on Friday during the commissioning of the Uyo branch of Zitra Microfinance Bank along Goodluck Jonathan Boulevard, Uyo. He was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Finance, Mr Emem Almond Bob.

Governor Eno described the establishment of the bank in the state capital as a major boost to Akwa Ibom’s financial services sector, noting that microfinance banks play a critical role in promoting financial inclusion, empowering entrepreneurs, and supporting small and medium-scale enterprises.

He said his administration, through the ARISE Agenda, remains focused on creating opportunities for wealth creation, job generation, and inclusive prosperity, while fostering a business-friendly environment for investors and financial institutions.

The Governor urged Zitra Microfinance Bank to remain committed to its mandate of providing accessible and innovative financial solutions, particularly to MSMEs, women entrepreneurs, youths, farmers, and artisans. He also commended the Board Chairman, Prof. Akpan Hogan Ekpo, and the management team for their vision, urging them to uphold strong corporate governance and regulatory standards.

Earlier, Prof. Ekpo described the event as a milestone in the bank’s expansion journey, noting that Zitra Microfinance Bank was established to bridge financial gaps and promote wealth creation.

The Managing Director, Mr Kufre Udeme, disclosed that the bank has grown from a ₦500 million capital base to over ₦10.5 billion in two years, adding that its presence in Uyo will further support businesses, create jobs, and expand economic opportunities in the state.
