Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s media aide, Paul Ibe, has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to invite Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Igboho for questioning over his claim that he knows those responsible for the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In a post on X on Thursday, Ibe said security agencies should take advantage of any information that could aid efforts to rescue the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.

His reaction followed remarks by Igboho during a meeting with members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), where the activist claimed he knew politicians allegedly linked to the kidnappings and threatened to reveal their identities if the abductions continued.

Ibe argued that all available avenues should be explored to secure the safe release of the abducted students and teachers.

“If Sunday Igboho claims to know those behind the abduction, security agencies should invite him to provide the names. Every option should be on the table to fast-track the safe release of the victims,” he said.

The Atiku aide also questioned the Federal Government’s response to the reported abduction of more than 50 schoolchildren in Mussa, Borno State, on May 15, 2026.

He accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of paying insufficient attention to the Borno incident compared to the response given to the Oyo school abduction.

Ibe asked when similar interventions, including the deployment of forest guards and high-level government engagement, would be extended to communities facing persistent insecurity in Borno and other vulnerable states.

He maintained that all Nigerian citizens deserve equal protection and urged authorities to intensify efforts to tackle the country’s worsening security challenges.
