The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hailed a Court of Appeal judgment which it said upheld the suspension of some party members and rejected the legitimacy of a rival caretaker committee.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the party described the ruling as a major victory for internal democracy, constitutional supremacy and party discipline.
According to the statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Choji Felix Dalyop, the appellate court upheld the suspension of A.K. Ajibade (SAN), Samuel Anyanwu and others, affirming the party’s disciplinary processes.
The party also claimed that the court declined to recognise the Abdulrahman-led caretaker committee, describing it as an illegal parallel structure created to foster division within the PDP.

The Plateau PDP further stated that the Court of Appeal declined to entertain issues relating to the validity of the party’s Ibadan Convention, noting that the matter had already been determined by the Supreme Court.
It added that the court dismissed a suit challenging the outcome of the PDP’s national convention, a decision the party said reinforced the legitimacy of its leadership and internal processes.
Reacting to the judgment, the party said the ruling vindicated the leadership of its State Executive Committee headed by Chairman Miskom Raymond Dabo, elected in November 2025, as well as the 13-member Interim National Working Committee (INWC) constituted by the party’s Board of Trustees following a National Executive Committee meeting held in Abuja on May 4, 2026.
The PDP congratulated its legal team, members and stakeholders for standing by the party throughout the legal dispute and called for unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party maintained that the judgment reaffirmed the principle that political parties should be governed by their constitutions and internal mechanisms without undue interference.

It also urged members to close ranks and work together to strengthen the party while warning against actions capable of undermining its unity and stability.
