The Osun State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Adegoke Tee in connection with a road accident that claimed the lives of two police officers in Ayedaade Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect was apprehended on Friday, two days after the fatal crash occurred in the Oogi community, following a swift police investigation and manhunt launched shortly after the incident.

The deceased officers, Corporal Oluwatobiloba Odedina and Inspector Kehinde Adeleke, were reportedly returning home from an official assignment when they were struck by a Lexus vehicle.

The collision occurred on Wednesday and resulted in the immediate death of both officers, prompting shock and concern among residents of the area.

Eyewitness accounts indicated that the driver allegedly fled the scene after the crash, reportedly abandoning the vehicle due to fears of being attacked by an angry crowd that gathered at the location.

Following the incident, operatives of the Osun State Police Command commenced investigations and tracking efforts that led to the arrest of the suspect two days later.

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer in Osun State, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said the suspect had been taken into custody and transferred to the Traffic Unit in Osogbo for further investigation.

According to the police spokesperson, “One Adegoke has been arrested and the matter has been transferred to the Traffic Unit in Osogbo.”

Authorities said further details surrounding the circumstances of the crash and potential charges will be communicated as investigations continue.

The police command has not yet provided additional information on whether charges will include reckless driving or other offences related to the incident.
