A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced the suspension of party chieftain and former Deputy National Chairman, Chief Olabode George, along with 23 other members over alleged anti-party activities.

The suspension was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday and signed by the Chairman of the faction’s disciplinary committee, Kayode Ogunbiyi, and its Secretary, Desmond Agbo.

According to the statement, the decision followed a disciplinary committee meeting held on May 26, 2026, during which petitions alleging anti-party conduct and violations of the PDP constitution were considered.

The committee said the party could no longer tolerate actions capable of creating division and disaffection among members.

“The decision to suspend George and other erring members was contained in the resolution of the meeting held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, where various petitions were presented against certain notable personalities and other members bordering on issues of anti-party activities and deliberate infractions of the PDP Constitution,” the statement said.

The committee further claimed that it reviewed what it described as an earlier disciplinary action taken against George by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and reaffirmed his suspension.

“The Committee also reviewed the action previously taken against former Chief Olabode George by the National Executive Committee, which suspended him from the party, and reaffirmed that he remains suspended as earlier pronounced,” the statement added.

Other party members affected by the suspension include Aduke Maina, Abimbola Ogunkelu, Laja Adeoye, Tunji Shele, Sunday Olaifa, Gbenga Adegbesan, Rita Orji, Kofoworola Bucknor and Onikepo Oshodi, among others.

The faction alleged that some of the affected members were collaborating with rival political parties or engaging in political activities deemed contrary to the interests of the PDP.

It stated that the suspended members would no longer be permitted to participate in party activities within the state or represent the PDP in any official or unofficial capacity.

The group also warned that further legal action could be taken against any suspended member found acting against the party’s interests.

Chief Bode George, a prominent PDP leader and one of the party’s most influential figures in Lagos State, has been involved in longstanding disagreements with factions aligned to Wike and other power blocs within the party.

Efforts to obtain George’s reaction were unsuccessful, as calls to his phone were not answered and messages sent to him had not been delivered as of the time of filing this report.

The development is the latest indication of the continuing internal divisions within the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
