The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said President Bola Tinubu’s administration is facing widespread public dissatisfaction, citing a new opinion poll that placed the President’s approval rating at 30 per cent.

In a statement issued on Friday via its official X handle, the party referenced a survey conducted by Eagle Badger Data Analytics (EBDA), which it said reflected growing public frustration three years into the administration.

According to the report cited by the ADC, 30.2 per cent of respondents approved of the President’s performance, while 47.5 per cent disapproved. The remaining respondents were said to be undecided or unconvinced about the administration’s direction.

The opposition party said the figures indicate a significant decline in public confidence in the government’s economic and governance policies.

“For us in the ADC, the significance of this report is clear: a President with only 30 per cent approval after three years in office has lost a large measure of public confidence,” the party said.

The party further claimed that the survey showed 62 per cent of Nigerians were worse off economically compared to May 2023, while 23.3 per cent reported improvement in their living conditions. It also stated that 42.4 per cent of respondents described themselves as “much worse off.”

The ADC linked the reported economic hardship to rising living costs, including food inflation, transportation expenses, and business closures.

It argued that macroeconomic indicators being presented by the government did not reflect the daily realities of citizens.

“Nigerians do not eat statistics. They pay rent, school fees, transport fares, and food costs that have all become more expensive,” the statement read.

The party also raised concerns over insecurity, alleging that many farming communities remain inaccessible due to attacks by bandits, terrorists, and other armed groups.

It said insecurity and economic hardship were key drivers of public dissatisfaction with the administration.

The ADC further said the government could no longer attribute current challenges solely to inherited conditions, insisting that accountability now rests with the present administration.

“The responsibility now belongs to President Tinubu and his administration. Leadership is measured by outcomes, not excuses,” it said.

The party urged Nigerians to reflect on the findings as political preparations begin ahead of the 2027 general elections, calling for leadership focused on jobs, security, and improved living conditions.
