Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), in collaboration with Operation Desert Sanity V/Siege Operations, have recorded fresh operational successes across the North-East, including the foiling of terrorist attacks, neutralisation of suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters, arrests of criminal suspects, and rescue of abducted civilians.

The Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) disclosed this in a statement issued by its Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, on Thursday.

According to the statement, troops successfully repelled coordinated terrorist activities along the Buratai–Chara axis in Borno State after surveillance systems detected the movement of suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters in large numbers.

The military said troops engaged the insurgents with heavy firepower, forcing them to retreat, while pursuing Quick Response Forces inflicted further casualties on the fleeing fighters and recovered 169 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

“No casualties were recorded on own troops,” the statement added.

In a separate operation, troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, reportedly neutralised four suspected terrorists during an ambush around Kasaicia village in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The operation also led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and empty magazines.

Similarly, troops of Sector 1 OPHK foiled another terrorist attack along the Kirawa axis, while coordinated offensive operations were conducted along the Damboa–Kanama, Damboa–Gwoza, Goniri axis, and Forward Operating Base (FOB) Azir corridors.

The military said the operations were aimed at denying insurgents freedom of movement and maintaining operational dominance in key areas.

The statement further disclosed that troops arrested three suspected armed robbers at Gar Gwigwi village in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

Recovered items included mobile phones, wristwatches, charms, cash, a dagger, and a dane gun, which was later returned to its owner after verification.

Troops also apprehended a suspected terrorist collaborator in Monguno and arrested a suspected drug peddler in Mubi South Local Government Area of Adamawa State with substances suspected to be cannabis sativa.

All suspects are currently undergoing investigation.

On rescue operations, the military said additional abducted civilians were rescued along the Ngoshe–Amuda axis, bringing the total number of persons rescued from the Ngoshe incident to 69.

A kidnapped civilian rescued in the Gwoza axis reportedly told troops he escaped from terrorist captivity due to sustained military bombardment of insurgent enclaves in the Mandara Mountains.

The military also confirmed that four civilians rescued through collaboration with cross-border partners had been reunited with their families after medical attention and documentation.

Meanwhile, troops in Sector 2, Damaturu, Yobe State, marked the Eid-el-Adha celebration with a Sallah event hosted by the Sector Commander, Brigadier General Edet Effiong.

The event, according to the statement, brought together troops, community leaders, dignitaries, and patients from the Level II Field Hospital as part of efforts to strengthen civil-military relations.

Operation Hadin Kai said troops also recovered arms, ammunition, bombs, and improvised explosive devices during clearance operations in the Magza area and other locations.

The military reassured residents of its commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist groups and restoring security and stability across the North-East region.
