The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, has called on indigenous investors and entrepreneurs to deepen their participation in Nigeria’s gas value chain, particularly in infrastructure development, conversion centres, and refuelling networks.

Ekpo appealed on Tuesday during the commissioning of the Diverse Autocare Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Conversion Hub in Benin City, Edo State, where he also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding collaboration with the private sector in the gas industry.

He described the facility as a strategic investment aligned with the government’s drive to promote cleaner energy alternatives, reduce transportation costs, and boost industrial development through increased domestic gas utilisation.

According to him, the growing involvement of local investors in the sector reflects rising confidence in natural gas as a cleaner, more affordable, and sustainable energy source.

The Minister commended the management of Diverse Autocare, led by its Chairman, Mr Greg Ogbeifun, for what he described as a forward-looking investment in Nigeria’s emerging gas economy.

He said the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and supports ongoing efforts to expand cleaner energy solutions that improve livelihoods and create jobs.

“This facility gives practical expression to the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in reducing transport costs, deepening domestic gas utilisation, creating sustainable jobs, and improving the quality of life of our people,” Ekpo stated.

He added that the initiative also reinforces the Federal Government’s Decade of Gas programme, which seeks to position Nigeria as a gas-powered industrial economy through optimal utilisation of its natural gas resources.

Speaking at the event, Edo State Deputy Governor, Mr Dennis Idahosa, assured that the state government would continue to support investments that promote industrial growth, clean energy adoption, and economic development.

Chairman of Diverse Autocare, Mr Greg Ogbeifun, said the company remains committed to delivering quality automotive services through modern technology and skilled manpower.
