Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on Tuesday commissioned a Model Primary Health Centre in Oron Local Government Area as part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration.

The Governor said the project fulfilled his campaign promise to expand access to quality healthcare across the state, noting that 31 similar model health centres have so far been constructed in different parts of Akwa Ibom.

He explained that the facility is designed for 24-hour service delivery, with residential accommodation for doctors to ensure round-the-clock medical attention. He also disclosed that special allowances have been provided for medical personnel serving in rural communities to encourage improved healthcare delivery.

According to him, the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the state’s healthcare system and reduce mortality through improved access to primary healthcare services.

During the visit, Governor Eno also commissioned several other projects executed in Oron, including a Youth-Friendly Centre, the 2.1-kilometre Ukpong Street, the 2.1-kilometre Effiong Essang Street with an 800-metre drainage system, and the Administrative Block of the Oron Local Government Council constructed by the Council Chairman.

The Governor said his administration remains committed to infrastructure renewal and human capital development across all local government areas of the state.
