DANJUMA DONATES ₦3BN AT GOWON’S AUTOBIOGRAPHY UNVEILING

Former Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), on Tuesday donated N3 billion during the public presentation of former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon’s autobiography in Abuja.

The event, which attracted top government officials, diplomats and senior military officers, also recorded major donations from prominent Nigerian businessmen and dignitaries in support of the book launch.

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, donated N500 million, while businessman Abdul Samad Rabiu purchased copies of the autobiography worth N25 million.

Vice President Kashim Shettima represented President Bola Tinubu at the ceremony.

The autobiography, titled My Life of Duty and Allegiance, is a 20-chapter memoir chronicling Gowon’s life, military career and years in public service.

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah, reviewed the book during the unveiling ceremony.

Danjuma, who served as chief presenter at the event, was represented by former Chief of Defence Staff, General Martin Luther Agwai (retd.).

Beyond the N3 billion donation, Danjuma also directed that 12 copies of the autobiography be purchased and distributed to the libraries of each of the 20 universities that awarded Gowon honorary doctorate degrees.

The launch drew dignitaries from across political, military and business circles, reflecting Gowon’s enduring influence in Nigeria’s history and public life.
