Four people have been killed, eight others injured after a gunman opened fire near the southern Turkish city of Mersin, according to local media reports on Monday.
The incident reportedly occurred near Tarsus, located about 40 kilometres northeast of Mersin, where the attacker opened fire in multiple locations, triggering panic in the area.
Reports from Turkish news agencies indicated that at least two of the victims were shot inside a restaurant, while two others were killed in separate locations during the attack. Several other victims sustained injuries and are receiving treatment.

Authorities launched a large-scale manhunt immediately after the attack, deploying security personnel and helicopters in efforts to track down the suspect, who reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle.
Preliminary reports identified the suspect as a 17-year-old armed with a shotgun.
The incident comes weeks after two separate shooting attacks involving teenagers in Turkey. In one of the incidents, 16 people were injured, while another attack resulted in the deaths of 10 people, most of them schoolchildren.
Security agencies are continuing investigations into Monday’s attack as authorities work to establish the motive behind the shooting.
