The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano Sector Command, has launched a special enforcement initiative known as “Operation Guduma” as part of efforts to strengthen compliance with traffic regulations and reduce road-related offences across the state.
The operation was inaugurated on Monday in Kano by the officer in charge of Federal Operations at the FRSC Headquarters, Yusuf Aliyu-Haruna, who charged personnel involved in the exercise to uphold professionalism, discipline and dedication while carrying out their responsibilities.
Aliyu-Haruna instructed officers deployed to the Gadar Lado corridor along the Kano–Zaria highway to ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations while assessing the operational impact of the initiative.

The operation is expected to target a range of traffic violations frequently linked to road accidents and public safety risks.
Among the offences under focus are the use of fake diplomatic vehicle number plates, vehicle overloading, illegal transportation practices involving the mixing of passengers and goods, as well as the movement of vehicles carrying unsecured containers.
Road safety authorities noted that such violations have continued to pose serious dangers to motorists and road users, often resulting in crashes and obstruction along major highways.
Aliyu-Haruna also urged motorists and transport operators to obey traffic rules and avoid unsafe practices capable of endangering lives and property.
Speaking at the event, Kano Sector Commander Idris Mohammed appealed to drivers using the state’s highways to demonstrate responsibility and caution while on the roads.

The FRSC says the initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve road safety standards and ensure safer transportation across the country.
