The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced a temporary increase in train services on the Lagos–Ibadan corridor ahead of the Sallah celebration, as part of efforts to manage higher passenger demand during the festive travel period.
In a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos, NRC Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, said the adjustment will take effect on Tuesday, May 26.

According to him, train operations on the corridor will rise from the usual four daily trips to six trips on the day to accommodate increased movement of passengers travelling to celebrate with family and loved ones.
He said departure times from Lagos will be scheduled for 7:45 a.m., 1:40 p.m., and 4:00 p.m., while departures from Ibadan will run at 8:00 a.m., 10:50 a.m., and 4:30 p.m.
Unyimadu explained that the arrangement is strictly temporary and applies only to the Sallah travel period, after which normal operations will resume.
He also noted that the Thursday schedule, which typically runs six trips, will be reduced to four trips on May 28 during the festive window, before returning to full operations the following week.
Meanwhile, the Osun State Government has announced the operation of its annual free Sallah train service for indigenes travelling from Lagos to Osogbo for the celebration.
The special train is scheduled to depart from Iddo Station in Lagos on Tuesday, May 26, while the return journey from Osogbo to Lagos will take place on Thursday, May 28.

The initiative, according to the state government, is part of its annual support for residents during festive periods and is executed through a paid arrangement with the NRC to facilitate free transportation for Osun indigenes.
The NRC reiterated its commitment to safe and efficient rail services nationwide, wishing passengers a peaceful Sallah celebration.
