No fewer than 1,000 women in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have benefited from an empowerment programme organised by the Women Wing of the City Boy Movement (CBM), with the group also reiterating support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The empowerment initiative, coordinated by the FCT Chapter of the City Boy Movement Women Wing through the Office of the National Coordinator for Women Affairs, was designed to strengthen women’s economic participation, encourage grassroots mobilisation and deepen civic engagement.

Speaking at the event, the National Coordinator for Women Affairs of the Women Wing, Hon. Ummusalma Rabiu, described women empowerment as an essential driver of sustainable development, poverty reduction and economic growth.

She said women continue to play a crucial role in grassroots mobilisation, voter education, democratic participation and national development efforts.

According to Rabiu, empowering women economically would contribute significantly to improving livelihoods and strengthening communities.

The FCT Women Affairs Coordinator, Dr Ene Adugba, who hosted the programme, said the initiative was targeted at supporting vulnerable and business-minded women while creating awareness on the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration under its Renewed Hope Agenda.

She stated that despite prevailing economic challenges, the administration had continued to implement reforms and interventions aimed at repositioning the country’s economy.

Also addressing participants, the National Principal Secretary of the Women Wing said the administration had shown commitment through various policy reforms focused on economic stability, infrastructure expansion, social intervention programmes, youth and women empowerment, food security and investment promotion.

The group highlighted areas it described as achievements of the administration, including investments in infrastructure and transportation, student loan initiatives, agricultural support programmes, improved security coordination and policies aimed at job creation and entrepreneurship development.

As part of the programme, beneficiaries received various empowerment items and support packages intended to strengthen small businesses, improve household income and promote self-reliance.

Adugba also used the occasion to reaffirm the group’s commitment to mobilising support for President Tinubu’s re-election, stressing the importance of continuity in governance and ongoing reform efforts.

She maintained that sustaining current policies would help consolidate progress in key sectors including infrastructure, security, agriculture, education, youth development and economic revitalisation.

The organisation further urged women, youths and other stakeholders to actively support initiatives that promote peace, national unity, democratic participation and sustainable development.
