Fresh tensions have emerged in the Middle East as Israeli forces continued military strikes in southern Lebanon despite an agreement by Lebanese and Israeli negotiators to extend an existing ceasefire arrangement by 45 days.
Reports indicated that several attacks were carried out in southern Lebanese communities, with more than a dozen people reportedly killed, including three paramedics. The renewed violence occurred even as discussions aimed at maintaining the ceasefire were taking place in the United States.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts involving Iran and the United States appear to be gathering momentum. Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, disclosed during a meeting of BRICS nations that Tehran had received indications from the administration of US President Donald Trump expressing willingness for renewed dialogue, although disagreements reportedly remain over nuclear-related issues.
The latest developments come amid continuing instability across the region, with violence also persisting in Gaza.

Reports said casualties were recorded following Israeli strikes in parts of the territory, while Palestinians marked the 78th anniversary of the Nakba, commemorating the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians during the events surrounding the creation of Israel in 1948.
