Popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo has been reported dead at the age of 40.
News of his death emerged on Tuesday and was confirmed by several of his colleagues in the Nigerian film industry, including actresses and actors who paid tribute to him on social media.
Actress Funke Akindele, in an emotional post shared via her Instagram story, mourned the late actor and reflected on their friendship.

“Rest in peace, Alex. I tried to reach out to see you one more time but I guess you knew best. May your kind soul rest in peace,” she wrote.
Actor Bolanle Ninalowo also reacted to the development, praying for strength for the deceased’s family and loved ones.
“Rest on, Alex. May God heal your family and us all,” he stated.
Another Nollywood actor, Godwin Nnadiekwe, described the news as heartbreaking, saying the industry had lost “a rare soul.”
“I’m struggling to find the words. This news has truly broken me. Nollywood has lost a rare soul,” he wrote.
As of the time of filing this report, the family of the late actor had yet to release an official statement regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.

Alex Ekubo was widely known for his roles in several Nollywood productions and was regarded as one of the prominent faces in Nigeria’s contemporary film industry.
