The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2026 academic session.

The decision was taken on Monday during the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions held in Abuja, where key education stakeholders, including the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, and representatives of tertiary institutions across the country, were in attendance.

The new benchmark is expected to guide admission processes into universities nationwide for the upcoming academic year.

The meeting brought together heads of institutions and education regulators to review and harmonise entry requirements into higher institutions, including universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

With the new cut-off mark, universities are expected to retain the autonomy to set higher admission standards for competitive courses, while 150 remains the minimum threshold for eligibility consideration.

Education stakeholders at the meeting also deliberated on broader admission policies aimed at improving access to tertiary education while maintaining academic standards across institutions.
