Troops of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have neutralised three suspected terrorists and recovered arms and other items during an ambush operation in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The operation was carried out by troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) FUDMA as part of ongoing offensives against terrorists and other criminal elements in the state.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 17 Brigade, Captain Abayomi Adisa, troops had taken up blocking positions along the Turare-Kitibawa-Kuka-Mai Damusa Road following intelligence on the movement of fleeing terrorists from the Matazu general area.

The statement said the terrorists were ambushed at about 9:40 p.m. on May 9, 2026.

During the operation, troops reportedly neutralised three terrorists and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one magazine loaded with three rounds of ammunition, one motorcycle, three cutlasses, assorted charms and a cash sum of N3,500.

The Nigerian Army said troops had sustained offensive operations aimed at restoring peace and security in Katsina State.

It also urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.
