RENAISSANCE AFRICA ENERGY TARGETS 5,000 BENEFICIARIES IN RIVERS HEALTH OUTREACH

The management of Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited and its joint venture partners, including NNPC Limited, TotalEnergies and Eni, has announced plans to reach more than 5,000 residents of B-Dere Community and other communities in Gokana through its 2026 Vision First Plus Initiative.

The Managing Director of Renaissance Africa Energy, Tony Attah, disclosed that the company’s Vice President for Relations and Sustainable Development, represented by General Manager, Health, Akinwumi Fajola, during the four-day medical outreach programme held in B-Dere Community.

According to the company, the initiative was designed to provide free healthcare services to underserved residents in host communities and address pressing medical challenges in rural areas.

Fajola explained that the company and its partners pooled resources together to improve access to healthcare for vulnerable groups, particularly those unable to afford medical treatment.

Representing the NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services, Chief Upstream Investment Officer, Seyi Omotowa, through Nkechi Anaedobe, commended Renaissance Africa Energy for its interventions across host communities and praised residents of Gokana for participating actively in the programme.

Also speaking, Director of Medical Services and Permanent Secretary-designate in the Rivers State Ministry of Health, Vincent Nwachukwu, said the Rivers State Government remained committed to partnerships aimed at improving healthcare delivery and reducing hardship among residents.

Nwachukwu urged community members to take advantage of the free healthcare services and spread awareness about the outreach, noting that many of the treatments offered were expensive and inaccessible to low-income residents.

The outreach programme provided a wide range of medical services, including eye care, HIV/AIDS testing, cancer screenings, cardiovascular checks, laboratory services, dental care and treatment for chronic and minor ailments.

Organisers disclosed that more than 5,000 patients had so far benefited from the initiative, while over 500 eyeglasses were distributed and more than 200 eye surgeries were successfully conducted during the programme.
