Commander, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army, Major General Peter Malla, has charged members of the Examination Panel for the 2026 Captain to Major Written Promotion Examination to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and fairness.

Speaking at the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport in Benin City, where the examination is being coordinated, Major General Malla—who also serves as Examination President—emphasised that transparency and discipline are critical to the credibility of the promotion process.

He cautioned against any form of compromise, stressing that candidates must be rigorously evaluated on leadership capacity, critical thinking, and their ability to respond to evolving security challenges.

“The credibility of this examination rests on your commitment to fairness and professionalism,” he said, directing panel members to strictly adhere to the Nigerian Army Charter for Promotion Examinations 2022 (Revised).

Malla noted that the exercise is key to preparing officers for higher responsibilities, in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s vision of building a more professional, adaptable, and combat-ready force.

He also expressed confidence in a credible outcome and commended the Chief of Army Staff for continued support toward strengthening institutional standards.

Earlier, the Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport, Major General Adebayo Adegbite, described hosting the examination as a privilege, reaffirming the institution’s readiness to ensure a smooth and successful exercise.

The promotion examination is a critical step in the career progression of officers, determining readiness for advancement to the rank of Major within the Nigerian Army.
