NUJ NEC COMMENDS GOV ENO OVER IBOM AIR’S 1ST INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT TO GHANA

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has commended the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, for the successful launch of Ibom Air’s inaugural international flight from Nigeria to Ghana, describing it as a significant milestone in the state’s aviation development and economic expansion.

The commendation was given by the NUJ National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahya, during a NEC session held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city where he expressed satisfaction with the state’s growing investment in aviation infrastructure and regional connectivity.

Comrade Yahya also applauded the inclusion of the Chairman of the NUJ Akwa Ibom State Council, Comrade Nsibiet John, in the state government’s official delegation on the historic flight, noting that the gesture reflects a strengthening partnership between government and the media.

He described the collaboration as “a sign of mutual respect and recognition of the media’s role in development communication and governance support.”

According to him, the engagement demonstrates the Akwa Ibom State Government’s commitment to inclusive governance and constructive engagement with key stakeholders in the development process.

The NEC meeting also featured a presentation by Comrade Nsibiet John, who briefed members on ongoing innovations and reforms within the Akwa Ibom NUJ Council under his leadership. His presentation received strong commendation from NEC members, who described the reforms as forward-looking and impactful.

The NUJ reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote development journalism, institutional growth, and stronger government–media relations across the country.
