2027: EKET SENATORIAL DISTRICT ENDORSES GOV ENO, TINUBU, AKPABIO

Stakeholders in Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District have endorsed Governor Umo Eno for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing his performance in office.

The endorsement was presented on Thursday, April 23, 2026, by the political leader of the district, Ambassador Assam Assam, SAN, who said the decision reflects widespread confidence in the governor’s leadership and achievements within his first term.

Assam noted that despite hailing from Uyo Senatorial District, Governor Eno is widely regarded as part of the Eket community, having lived and conducted business in the area for many years. He assured the governor of the district’s full support, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the state until 2031.

The district also unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio for re-election in 2027.

In her remarks, Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakeneyi, commended Governor Eno’s leadership, attributing the endorsement to his inclusive and impactful governance. She also formally presented Ambassador Assam as the new political leader of the district, alongside Ikpoto Okon Osung as deputy leader and Engr. Uwem Okoko as secretary.

Other stakeholders, including Dr Pat Ifon, Ikpoto Okon Osung, and former Deputy Governor Obong Nsima Ekere, reaffirmed their support for the governor and pledged commitment to ensuring continuity in leadership.

Speaking on behalf of the Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob appreciated the Eket stakeholders for their solidarity and support for the governor.

Responding, Governor Eno expressed gratitude for the endorsement, describing it as a vote of confidence and a pathway to sustaining ongoing development initiatives. He highlighted unity across the state as a key driver of progress and reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance.

The governor urged political stakeholders to approach forthcoming party primaries with maturity and sportsmanship to preserve peace and stability in the state.
