The Eleme Local Government Area has intensified its fight against criminal activity with the arrest of two suspected car thieves linked to a stolen Toyota Corolla.
The council’s Chief Security Officer, Greg Emere Ogosu, disclosed that the arrests were the result of sustained surveillance and intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks within the area.

According to him, the suspects had been under close watch since April 5, 2026, when the stolen vehicle was discovered concealed along New Road in Onne. A coordinated manhunt eventually led to their capture.
Ogosu revealed that the suspects have confessed to the crime, reinforcing the council’s position that criminal elements will find no haven in Eleme.
He further confirmed that the suspects have been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force for thorough investigation and prosecution.
Reaffirming the council’s stance, Ogosu emphasised that justice will be pursued strictly within the framework of the law, stressing that jungle justice has no place in Eleme.

The council also issued a stern warning to would-be offenders, declaring zero tolerance for criminal activities and vowing to sustain its crackdown to ensure the safety and security of residents.
