The Nasarawa State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Salamatu A. Muhammad, has called on collaborating agencies and heads of assignment to uphold discipline, unity, and teamwork as preparations intensify for the forthcoming Orientation Course.
She made this known on Thursday during her maiden meeting with key officials at the NYSC Secretariat in Lafia.
Addressing the gathering, Mrs Muhammad emphasized the importance of strict adherence to established rules and regulations guiding Orientation programmes to ensure a seamless and successful exercise.
The Coordinator highlighted the need for synergy among officials, noting that effective collaboration remains critical to achieving the objectives of the Scheme and delivering a productive Orientation Course. She urged heads of assignments to work closely with their team members, stressing that collective effort would drive overall success.
On security matters, Mrs Muhammad charged officials to remain vigilant and security-conscious at all times. She specifically tasked security heads with developing strategies to safeguard all participants within the Orientation Camp.
Speaking on discipline, she cautioned against the use of corporal punishment and any form of misconduct, encouraging officials instead to adopt approaches rooted in care, patience, and respect when dealing with Corps Members.
Reaffirming her commitment to the welfare of both Corps Members and officials, the Coordinator directed all personnel to diligently carry out their assigned responsibilities throughout the duration of the programme.
In his remarks, the Camp Director for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course, Osheshi Mohammed, underscored the value of shared knowledge and cooperation among officials. He noted that no individual holds a monopoly on ideas, urging participants to exchange perspectives to enhance efficiency.
“Teamwork and discipline are integral to a successful Orientation Programme. Let us reflect team spirit as we go about our duties,” he said.
Mr Mohammed also stressed the importance of adhering strictly to the approved timetable, encouraging officials to manage time effectively to achieve optimal results.
