Proceedings in the trial of former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, were stalled on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja, following his failure to file a final written address.

Mamman is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 12-count charge bordering on alleged money laundering involving the sum of N33,804,830,503.73.

At the resumed hearing, which was slated for the adoption of final written addresses, defence counsel, Femi Atteh (SAN), informed the court that he had received the prosecution’s final written address but had yet to file that of the defence.

He drew the attention of the court to a motion filed on April 1, 2026, seeking an extension of time to enable the defence file its final address.

The prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), raised no objection to the application.

Justice James Omotosho subsequently granted the request and adjourned the matter until April 23, 2026, for the adoption of final written addresses.

The case is part of ongoing efforts by the EFCC to prosecute alleged high-profile financial crimes involving public officials.
