Brazil has received authorization to export 17 products to Ethiopia, including key items like beef, poultry, and pork, according to Luis Rua, secretary for trade and international relations at Brazil’s Agriculture Ministry.

This marks the first market openings under the new Agriculture Minister, Andre de Paula, who took office last week. Ethiopia, Africa’s second-most populous nation with around 130 million people, represents an important market for Brazilian agricultural exports.

Brazil has expanded its agricultural export markets rapidly, surpassing 500 new markets since the start of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s current term in 2023.

This move is expected to strengthen Brazil-Ethiopia trade relations and boost Brazil’s agricultural sector internationally.
