As the world marks World Health Day, the Federal Government of Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to strengthening healthcare systems through science, collaboration, and evidence-based policymaking.

The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare convened stakeholders, development partners, health professionals, and policy experts to reflect on this year’s global theme, “Together for Health, Stand with Science.”

The forum highlighted Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to harness scientific innovation, research-driven decision-making, and community engagement to address emerging health challenges and improve national health outcomes.

At a ministerial briefing in Abuja, Dr. Isiak Salako, Minister of State for Health, stressed that science remains central to effective disease prevention, vaccination programs, pandemic preparedness, and the management of both communicable and non-communicable diseases.

Authorities reaffirmed that building resilient healthcare systems requires collective action, sustained investment, and an unwavering commitment to science as a guiding principle for both national and global health security.

The engagement signals Nigeria’s determination to align with global health standards while reinforcing domestic capacity to respond effectively to current and future health challenges.
