The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested an Abuja-based house agent, Hajia Adama Ahmed Adamu, over an alleged property fraud involving N288 million.
The arrest was carried out by operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate following a petition filed by a complainant, Alhaji Tanko Yawale.
According to the EFCC, the suspect allegedly obtained the sum under the pretext of facilitating the purchase of a property located at House 31, Haile Selassie Street, Asokoro, Abuja.
However, after receiving the payment, Hajia Adamu reportedly failed to provide valid ownership documents for the property and subsequently became unreachable, raising suspicion.
The development prompted the complainant to petition the anti-graft agency, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
The EFCC said investigations are ongoing into the matter, with assurances that anyone found culpable will be brought to justice.
