Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Abak Judicial Division has granted bail to an accused person, Hope Henry Ekong, who is standing trial for allegedly attempting to murder Miss Rachael Nkop Samuel.
Justice Eno Isangedighi granted the bail during proceedings in a three-count charge bordering on attempted murder, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, and terrorism.
The court admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N5 million with strict conditions attached.
According to the ruling, the defendant is to provide two sureties, one of whom must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 14, while the second surety must be a resident within the court’s jurisdiction.
Justice Isangedighi also directed the defendant to refrain from making provocative statements against the complainant and barred him from appearing at public gatherings as a bouncer while the trial lasts.
The judge warned that any breach of the bail conditions would lead to the revocation of the bail.

Counsel to the defendant, Nsikak David Akai, assured the court that his client would comply fully with the conditions.
Akai further stated that he would advise the defendant not to stay at the family compound where the complainant resides to avoid possible confrontation.
During the proceedings, the prosecution team, led by State Counsel Utomobong Inyang, presented a witness, Ndukeobong Jackson Udofia, in support of the case against the defendant.
The matter, which borders on infrastructural renewal on allegations of gender-based violence, was first heard on April 29, 2026.

The case was adjourned to May 27, 2026, for cross-examination of the prosecution witness.
