The Director General of the Nigerian Army Finance Incorporation (NAFIC), Major General Julius Osifo, has urged troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) to take full advantage of available welfare and financial schemes aimed at enhancing their well-being and operational effectiveness.

Osifo made the call on Monday, March 23, 2026, during a sensitisation visit to troops at the Headquarters Theatre Command, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, at the Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maiduguri.

He explained that NAFIC is responsible for managing key welfare initiatives such as the Nigerian Army Benevolent Fund and the Group Life Assurance Scheme, among others, which provide support to personnel in cases of injury, disability, or death in service.

The DG noted that the sensitisation programme covered critical areas including the Nigerian Army Personnel Loan Scheme, the Chief of Army Staff Personnel Loan Programme, activities of the Directorate of Non-Public Funds, and the establishment of the Nigerian Army Microfinance Bank. He said the initiative was designed to educate troops on their entitlements, responsibilities, and available benefits.

According to him, increased awareness of these schemes would boost morale and enhance troops’ fighting spirit in ongoing operations.

Osifo also commended the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdusalam Abubakar, for his leadership and operational achievements in the North East, noting that sustained offensives have significantly weakened insurgent activities and restored public confidence in the Armed Forces.

In his response, the Theatre Commander appreciated the visit, describing it as timely, especially during ongoing dry season operations. He disclosed that troops have recorded notable successes, including the neutralisation of about 300 insurgents through coordinated operations and superior firepower.

He added that improved awareness of welfare packages has played a key role in boosting troop morale, as personnel are reassured of support in times of need. He further noted that the initiative aligns with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W. Shaibu’s “Soldier First Culture,” which prioritizes the welfare and administration of personnel.

The visit featured a quarter guard inspection, interactive sessions with officers, signing of the visitors’ book, presentation of souvenirs, and a group photograph.

The sensitization tour underscores NAFIC’s commitment to strengthening troop welfare awareness and supporting sustained operational success in the fight against insurgency in the North East.
