A political support group of President Bola Tinubu, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, has commenced plans to distribute rice across the country to support Nigerians observing the Ramadan and Lenten fasting periods.
The directive was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by the group’s Director-General and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, who said the intervention is aimed at promoting national unity and compassion during a spiritually significant period for both Muslims and Christians.
According to Uzodinma, the initiative reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening social cohesion and supporting vulnerable families as they observe the seasons of sacrifice, charity and reflection.
He explained that the distribution would be coordinated through the group’s grassroots network nationwide to ensure that households across various communities benefit from the gesture.
The statement noted that a similar programme was implemented during the Christmas season, when rice was distributed to assist citizens, underscoring what it described as the administration’s continued efforts to provide support at key religious and cultural periods.
The planned exercise is expected to cover both Christian and Muslim communities, reinforcing the President’s emphasis on inclusivity and national unity.
