The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council as it expands its nationwide campaign structure ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
The council, announced on Thursday, brings together zonal and state coordinators alongside directors responsible for mobilisation, women’s affairs, strategy and planning, security and intelligence, legal affairs, information technology and other campaign functions.
The structure is supporting the presidential ticket of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, with former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi as presidential candidate and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso as his running mate. Their candidacies are included in the final list of presidential candidates published ahead of the election.
John Ughulu, Director-General of the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, was named Director-General of the campaign, while the movement’s National Secretary, Saadatu Sani, is also part of the campaign leadership.
The council has representation across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, with coordinators also appointed for the 36 states.
Suleiman Abubakar was named North-Central coordinator, Hashimu Dungurawa will coordinate the North-West, while Amadu Gwambe was appointed for the North-East.
Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye will coordinate the South-West, Christopher Ighodaro the South-South and El-Shaddai Ikeh the South-East.
MOVEMENT TARGETS GRASSROOTS MOBILISATION
In a message to the appointees, Sani described their selection as a responsibility to take the campaign’s message from major cities to local governments, wards and communities across the country.
She said the council would be expected to focus on grassroots mobilisation, strategic planning, communication and coordination as campaigning intensifies.
Other appointments include Sabo Gashua as Director of Grassroots Mobilisation; Glory Adayi, Women Affairs; Kabir Yahaya, Contact and Engagement; Abdumumini Tijjani, Mobilisation; Yusuf Mani, Special Duties; and Peace Daful, Procurement.
Prof Charles Nwekeaku was appointed Director of South Eastern Town Hall, while Sunmisola Adebayo will oversee Information Technology.
Kingdom Okere was appointed Director of Legal Affairs, Abiodun Dabiri will oversee Strategy and Planning, retired CSP Richard Enemona will handle Security and Intelligence, while Aisha Abdulrahaman was named Director of Administration.
The movement said the campaign would focus on promoting the political programme of Obi and Kwankwaso nationwide rather than individual recognition among campaign officials.
The Obi-Kwankwaso political partnership was formalised earlier in 2026 after both men joined the NDC. Obi subsequently emerged as the party’s presidential candidate and named Kwankwaso as his running mate.
The unveiling marks another organisational step by the movement as political parties and campaign groups build their structures ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
