The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed his commitment to leadership development and institutional excellence with the approval of key infrastructural upgrades at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji.
Speaking on Wednesday at the General Faruk Yahaya Auditorium after delivering a lecture to participants of Senior Course 48, the Army Chief charged staff and students of the Department of Land Warfare to approach their training with discipline, focus and dedication.
Describing them as future custodians of Nigeria’s defence architecture, Lt. Gen. Shaibu said the officers would soon assume critical command roles across various operational theatres where their professionalism and leadership would be tested.
He urged them to remain resilient and committed to excellence in order to effectively tackle the nation’s evolving security challenges.
The COAS also tasked Directing Staff to uphold high standards of mentorship, noting that the quality of training at the College directly impacts the operational effectiveness of future commanders.
In his remarks, the Director, Department of Land Warfare, Brigadier General B.O. Omopariola, thanked the COAS for his continued support and for approving major infrastructure and capacity-building projects.
These include the installation of solar-powered inverters for syndicate rooms and presentation halls, procurement of 50 laptops and 10 printers, renovation of Abacha Hall, and reconstruction of Directing Staff offices.
