The Chief of Civil-Military Affairs (CCMA), Nigerian Army, Major General Musa Awwal Etsu-Ndagi, on Wednesday received members of the National Executive Council of the Nigeria Military School (NMS) Ex-Boys Association at the Army Headquarters Department of Civil-Military Affairs, Abuja.

The visit, held on February 11, 2026, underscored the enduring bond between the Nigerian Army and the alumni of the Nigeria Military School.

Speaking during the meeting, the National President of the Association, Ex-Boy Mohammed Baba Marte, described the visit as both deliberate and significant, noting that it reflected the Association’s appreciation of the strategic role of the Department of Civil-Military Affairs in contemporary military operations and national development.

He commended the leadership of Major General Etsu-Ndagi for strengthening the relationship between the Nigerian Army and the civil populace.

Marte highlighted several landmark projects executed by members of the Association in support of their alma mater. These include the renovation of the NMS Dining Hall, remodeling of the cookhouse, and construction of a modern outdoor kitchen.

Other projects cited were the construction of a block of six modern classrooms equipped with interactive smart boards by the immediate past Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel I. Ogalla (Rtd); the commissioning of a new Boy Provost Marshal’s accommodation by Rear Admiral Kamarudeen Lawal (Rtd) alongside members of the NMS Ex-Boys of the Provost Corps (NMS 78–NMS 05 sets); and the renovation of the Boy Regimentation Sergeant Major’s accommodation by Brigadier General M. L. Abubakar and Navy Commodore A. Shehu.

The “Light Up NMS” solar streetlight project executed by members of the NMS 89 Set was also highlighted, alongside the remodeling and equipping of several classroom blocks by the NMS 81 Set and other alumni groups.

Marte further disclosed plans to embark on a new legacy initiative, the NMS Heritage Centre Project and Ex-Boys Alumni Secretariat. According to him, the proposed project will serve as the administrative headquarters of the Association, preserve the history and traditions of the school, and provide a platform for mentorship, research and alumni engagement.

The Association plans to formally launch the project during the 72nd Anniversary of the Nigeria Military School scheduled for May 20, 2026.

In his response, Major General Etsu-Ndagi commended the Association for its sustained commitment to the development of the school and pledged continued support for its initiatives.

He encouraged the Ex-Boys to intensify career talks and mentorship programmes for students to broaden their career prospects.
