The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has dispatched a team of technical experts to Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya to inspect facilities ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The three East African nations secured the hosting rights for the tournament, tagged PAMOJA 2027, defeating a joint bid by Nigeria and the Benin Republic. The 2027 edition will mark the first time the competition will be jointly hosted by three countries in the CECAFA region.

CAF’s inspection tour, which began this week, is expected to run until Tuesday, February 17. The technical team is assessing stadium infrastructure, training facilities, accommodation, transport networks and other logistics critical to the successful staging of the tournament.

CAF President, Patrice Motsepe is also scheduled to visit Tanzania on Friday as part of activities surrounding the inspection process.

The 2027 edition will be historic for another reason, as it will signal the end of CAF’s current biennial format for the Africa Cup of Nations. Motsepe announced during the last tournament in Morocco that after 2027, the next AFCON will take place in 2028, with subsequent editions to be held every four years.
