The Federal Government will on Monday convene a two-day National Economic Council (NEC) Conference aimed at strengthening economic coordination and accelerating inclusive growth across Nigeria’s 36 states.
The conference, scheduled for February 9 and 10, 2026, will hold at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and will be chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, in his capacity as Chairman of the National Economic Council.
Governors of the 36 states, alongside key national stakeholders, are expected to attend the summit, which is being convened by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
With the theme, “Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development: The Renewed Hope National Development Plan,” the conference is expected to shape far-reaching policy directions for states as they align with the Federal Government’s long-term economic reform agenda.
The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and Secretary of the NEC, Dr. Deborah Oko Odo, said the conference would focus on addressing pressing macroeconomic challenges facing the country.
“The conference will focus on national economic issues aimed at encouraging economic growth and development across the country,” Odo said.
According to her, discussions will centre on fiscal coordination, investment mobilisation, and shared development strategies between the federal and state governments to ensure balanced economic progress nationwide.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will attend the event as Special Guest of Honour, while other top government officials, development partners, and private-sector leaders are also expected to participate.
