The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, has pledged to address recurring communal clashes and strengthen security across the state’s 13 local government areas if elected governor in 2027.

Wadada committed on Saturday during a gathering in Akwanga, where representatives of Tiv communities in Nasarawa North Senatorial District endorsed his governorship candidacy.

The gathering also declared support for Governor Abdullahi Sule’s senatorial ambition and President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Addressing the gathering, Wadada, who represents Nasarawa West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, thanked the Tiv stakeholders for their endorsement and promised an inclusive administration that would prioritise peace, accountability and development.

He identified security as a major component of his HEARTS Agenda, a policy framework covering human capital development, economic growth, agriculture, infrastructure, investment and public safety.

The senator said his administration would engage farmers, herders, traditional institutions and other stakeholders to develop practical solutions to recurring conflicts.

He maintained that resolving communal disputes would help protect lives, safeguard agricultural activities and strengthen food production across the state.

Wadada also pledged to build on the development programmes of Governor Sule, particularly in infrastructure, industrialisation, agriculture, healthcare and education.

He described continuity in governance as important to sustaining ongoing projects and expanding economic opportunities.

Earlier, the President of the Tiv Development Association in Nasarawa State, Barnabas Zayol, said the community’s endorsement reflected its confidence in the political leaders and their stated commitment to addressing local challenges.

Zayol said Tiv stakeholders across the northern senatorial district had resolved to support the APC candidates during the 2027 general election.

He also commended traditional rulers and community leaders for participating in consultations leading to the endorsement.

Governor Sule, represented by the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Yakubu Kwanta, expressed appreciation to the Tiv communities for their support.

Kwanta said engagements with residents across Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon and Wamba local government areas had provided opportunities to discuss community needs and government programmes.

He maintained that the administration remained committed to improving livelihoods and strengthening relations among communities.

The event formed part of ongoing political consultations ahead of the 2027 elections, with security and peaceful coexistence emerging as major issues in Nasarawa State’s governorship campaign.
