A youth group within the All Progressives Congress, the Renewed Hope for Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative, has announced plans to mobilise 20 million votes in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.
The group, also known as RHYDEI, announced the target during its launch in Abuja at the weekend.
President of the initiative, Abayomi Odediran, said the organisation planned to establish a nationwide grassroots structure covering Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.
According to him, the group would mobilise and train 10,000 youth ambassadors across the country to engage members of the public and communicate what the organisation considers the achievements of the Tinubu administration.
“The party has nothing to worry about. RHYDEI is ready and fully prepared to work for the return of the President,” Odediran said.
“We will work to ensure the President gets 20 million votes across the country.”
He said the organisation intended to extend its activities to wards across the federation as part of its mobilisation strategy ahead of the election.
“We shall take Renewed Hope to every ward in the 774 LGAs. From Sokoto to Bayelsa, from Borno to Lagos. This is how we are going to achieve it,” he said.
Odediran said the proposed 10,000 youth ambassadors would engage Nigerians through community outreach, markets and social media.
The group said the ambassadors would promote and explain the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
RHYDEI also announced plans to work with Federal Government agencies to connect at least one million young Nigerians with skills acquisition programmes, grants and loans before the election.
“We will show them that Renewed Hope is working,” Odediran said.
The group also inaugurated coordinators for the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory during the event.
RHYDEI’s pledge represents an electoral mobilisation target announced by the organisation and does not constitute a projection of the number of votes President Tinubu will receive in the 2027 election.
The initiative joins several political and support groups beginning nationwide mobilisation activities as preparations intensify for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
