The Nigeria Police Force has commenced the sitting of its Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) to review pending disciplinary cases involving 167 senior police officers accused of various breaches of professional conduct and related offences.

The exercise, currently ongoing at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, forms part of the police authorities’ efforts to strengthen internal accountability, enforce discipline, and uphold professional standards within the Force.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the Force Disciplinary Committee serves as an internal accountability mechanism responsible for reviewing cases involving senior officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above. It ensures that all cases are examined thoroughly, transparently, and fairly in line with existing laws and regulations, with recommendations forwarded to the Police Service Commission for appropriate action.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to discipline, integrity, and professionalism, stressing that no officer found culpable of misconduct would be shielded from due process.

He noted that the disciplinary proceedings are part of broader institutional reforms aimed at strengthening internal control systems, promoting ethical conduct, and restoring public confidence in the police.

The Force reiterates its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of accountability and service, emphasizing that all officers must conduct themselves in accordance with the core values of the profession.
