The Emir of Bade, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Suleiman, on Sunday led Muslims across Bade Emirate in Yobe State in a special prayer seeking divine intervention over the prolonged dry spell affecting the area.
The prayer session brought together Islamic scholars, district and ward heads, community leaders, and residents, who prayed for abundant rainfall, a successful farming season, and protection from drought and other disasters.
Special prayers were offered for increased agricultural productivity, prosperity, and peace across the emirate.
Addressing the gathering, the Emir urged residents to intensify prayers, repentance, and acts of worship while promoting unity and good conduct to attract Allah’s mercy.
He also prayed for Allah to accept their supplications, bless the land with timely rainfall, and grant the people peace and abundant harvests.
The prayer comes as many parts of Yobe State continue to experience a prolonged dry spell that has affected the growth of staple crops such as millet, sorghum, and maize.
Farmers have expressed concern that continued lack of rainfall could lead to poor harvests, while agricultural experts warn that an extended dry spell may trigger food insecurity and economic hardship for farming communities.
