Two persons are feared dead following an attack by suspected gunmen at a mining site around Kuru Jenta, near the boundary between Jos South and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Friday while the victims were at the mining site.
A community member, Weng Bulus, said on Saturday that the victims were residents of Heipang District.
Bulus condemned the attack and urged residents to exercise caution, particularly during curfew hours imposed by the state government.

He said the victims were reportedly at the mining site during the restricted period and advised residents against engaging in night-time mining activities that could expose them to security risks.
The spokesman for the Berom Youth Moulders Association, Rwang Tengwong, also condemned the incident and called for an investigation.
“This killing is unfortunate. We condemn it in totality,” Tengwong said.
He urged security agencies to identify those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice.
Tengwong also advised miners and other residents to avoid unnecessary movement and mining activities at night.
As of the time of filing this report, the Plateau State Police Command had not publicly confirmed the attack or the reported deaths.
Efforts to obtain a response from the command’s spokesman, Alabo Alfred, were unsuccessful.
