The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of a popular social media political commentator, Ibrahim Khalil Danshagamu.
Danshagamu, who was known for his outspoken views on Nigerian politics and religious issues, was reportedly found with his throat slit at his residence in Gaida Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred on Monday, September 9, with the police receiving a distress call at about 11:30pm.

The command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident in a statement made available to journalists.
According to him, operatives of the Kumbotso Police Division responded to the distress call and took the victim to Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital, Kano, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
Kiyawa said the Divisional Police Officer in Kumbotso had arrested two suspects in connection with the incident.

He added that the suspects were being interrogated, while efforts were ongoing to identify and arrest anyone else linked to the killing.
The spokesperson said the command had commenced forensic procedures and was obtaining statements from relevant persons to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and establish the motive for the attack.
