Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, has arrived at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo for questioning over alleged inciting comments.

Fadahunsi arrived at about 2:35 p.m. on Wednesday, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police in charge of election and security, Samuel Erale.

The senator was invited by the police following alleged comments he made concerning members of the Accord Party in Ilesa.

The development comes ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election, amid heightened political tension across the state.

The police had earlier warned political actors, candidates and their supporters against making inflammatory statements capable of escalating tensions or threatening the peaceful conduct of the election.

Fadahunsi’s invitation followed concerns over comments allegedly made during political activities in Ilesa.

The police are expected to question the senator over the circumstances surrounding the remarks and determine whether they violated any electoral or criminal laws.

The Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 15, with security agencies already stepping up preparations across the state.

Further details on the outcome of the senator’s questioning are expected from the police.
