More than 600 residents of Onihale in Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State, received free medical screenings and food assistance during a two-day community health outreach.
Africa Needs U, a United States-based faith organisation, organised the programme in partnership with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Living Praise Assembly, Kajola Road.
The outreach combined health screenings, medical education and food distribution, with organisers saying the initiative was aimed at improving access to preventive healthcare among residents.
Medical personnel involved in the exercise identified risk factors associated with conditions including hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases among some participants.
Team leader, Dr Bankole Abiola, said preventive healthcare could help identify potential health problems early and enable people to seek appropriate medical attention before complications develop.

“Preventive medicine is about identifying health risks before they become serious health problems,” Abiola said.
He encouraged residents to undergo regular health checks and follow professional medical advice when further examination or treatment is recommended.
Organisers said the exercise was intended to go beyond immediate medical assistance by improving awareness of preventive healthcare and encouraging residents to pay closer attention to their health.
Food supplies were also distributed during the outreach to vulnerable residents and other beneficiaries requiring additional support.
The organisers said the combination of medical screening, health education and welfare assistance was designed to address some of the health and economic challenges facing households in the community.
